WelcomeWho are we?
We’re tired. We’re sick and tired of a world of standards we did not create. We are tired of being told what we can do and how we can do it. We see a world where writers take 15% earnings from their books, after the publishers take their cut and before agents take their 10%. A world where good writers receive letters that begin with “Thank you, but we are not interested…” while things that are best used as sleep aides are published daily. This is a world where who you know and how easily you can sell out determines your level of success. Writers earn four cents on DVDs, or two cents if it’s on the ten dollar rack. And those agents? They’re taking their cut. We see a world where good authors can not get published without looking at self-publishing. A market requiring an investment of at least $500, and then they’re still only getting 90% return. Print on demand? Well, you’re going back to 15%.
This is the world we see. This is the world we did not create. This is the world we will not settle for. Who are we? We are bah. We are the black sheep of a world that doesn’t want us, and of a world we do not want. We are here to change the standards we did not create. The standards we refuse to adhere to simply because everyone says we have to. Because they’re there, and they work for the few benefiting off the work of others. Just because they control the money. We are bah, your black sheep, ready to change the world that does not work for us. Posted on 01 Jan 2008 by Dawg
